Why a Legacy Cap Sits Better
Three things separate this Pennsylvania headwear label from the rack of stiff, generic ball caps sold in the average campus bookstore.

Broken-In Feel
A proprietary dirty wash and garment-washed cotton twill soften every crown before it ships, so a brand-new cap already carries the character of a full summer of wear.

Low-Profile Fit
Unstructured six-panel builds sit close to the head under a full-curve visor, a silhouette that suits glasses, ponytails and every hairline without pinching or perching.

Everyday Durability
Full crown top-stitching, sturdy tri-glide buckles and moisture-wicking sweatbands hold their shape through fishing trips, tailgates and season after season of wear.
A Legacy Built in an Off-Campus Apartment
Legacy began in 1992, when law school roommates Mark Landgren and Paige Wingert tired of the shapeless caps stocked in their school bookstore. Working from an off-campus apartment, the pair drew up a retro baseball cap with a low crown and the tailoring detail of decades past. Word travelled quickly. The fit and all-American graphics earned a nickname among wearers, the Legacy Look, and the range widened from caps into apparel and home decor for colleges and resort towns across the country.
A brush with bankruptcy in 1999 tested the young company and toughened it. Based in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Legacy joined fellow Keystone State label League in spring 2018 to form L2 Brands. The design brief has not shifted: study the past, read current headwear trends, and keep turning out one of the most comfortable ball caps money can buy.

Questions About Legacy Caps
Sizing, washing, custom embroidery and shipping, answered for first-time buyers and long-time collectors alike.
Most adult styles are one size fits most, adjusting from roughly 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 with a snapback, tri-glide buckle or hook-and-loop strap. Fitted and stretch-fit models come in two or three sizes, while women’s, youth and toddler versions use a smaller crown.
The OFA pairs an unstructured six-panel crown in dirty-washed cotton twill with a soft mesh back, a fully curved visor and a kelly-green undervisor. It has anchored the collection since the earliest years of the label.
Yes. Cold water by hand or a gentle cycle keeps the wash effect intact, and air drying protects the visor board and crown shape. Hot water and tumble drying can shrink cotton twill and pucker the stitching.
Legacy has decorated headwear for colleges, resort shops, golf clubs and corporate programs for decades. Bulk and custom decoration orders are arranged through a sales representative rather than the standard retail checkout.
Mesh-back truckers move air well, and the Cool Fit range adds moisture-wicking performance fabric with UPF 50+ sun protection. Bucket hats and visors cover similar ground for anglers, gardeners and beach days.
Several styles do. Cool Fit caps are built from recycled polyester blends, and visor boards across the range have been shifting to recycled content as part of the broader sustainability push at L2 Brands.

What Wearers Say
Feedback gathered from retail listings, campus shops and repeat customers who own more than one cap from the label.
Picky about how a hat sits, and this is one of the few that works with glasses. Low crown, soft wash, and it has quietly become the daily driver in the rotation.
Sarah M.
Bought one for fishing three summers back and it still holds its shape. The mesh keeps things cool, the snap never slips, and the color faded in all the right places.
Derek W.
Ordered the dad hat in two colors after borrowing a friend’s. Broken in from the first wear, no stiff front panels, and the buckle sits flat under a hood.
